What is a TOG?
TOG stands for Thermal Overall Grade and is a unit of measurement for insulation and warmth of sleepwear and bedding. The lower the TOG rating, the lighter the fabric; the higher the rating, the more padded and insulated it is.

Description
The 3.5 TOG Cocoon Swaddle Bag is a zip-up swaddle designed for newborns, providing a safe and secure sleeping environment without the need for complicated wrapping. With a TOG rating of 3.5, it is insulated for use in room temperatures between 14-19°C (57-66°F), eliminating the need for blankets in the bassinet or cot. The chest area is rated 1.0 TOG to prevent overheating and ensure full chest expansion for breathing.

Parents can layer underneath as needed for warmth, using the included FREE room thermometer and what to wear guide for appropriate dressing. We recommend pairing this with one of our TOG-rated Layers or Bodywear underneath (sold separately).

The Cocoon Swaddle Bag features arm poppers at the shoulders, allowing it to transition from an arms-in swaddle to an arms-out sleeping bag when the baby shows signs of rolling. A zip enclosure protects your child's delicate skin, and the soft, breathable natural fibres are certified non-toxic, dyed with water-based dyes, and gentle on newborn skin, including those prone to eczema. Made from and filled with GOTS-certified organic cotton, with elastane in the outer fabric and bamboo in the lining, the swaddle is firm enough to restrict the startle reflex while allowing stretch and movement for healthy growth. The bell-shaped design, approved by the International Hip Dysplasia Institute, promotes proper joint development in the hips and shoulders. The two-way zipper allows for quick and easy nappy changes with minimal disruption.

There are three ways to use the Cocoon Swaddle Bag:
1. As a zip-up swaddle with closed arm-poppers, suitable from birth until rolling.
2. With a Butterfly Cardi (sold separately) to create a hands-up sleeping position, suitable from birth until rolling.
3. As an arms-out swaddle by opening the arm-poppers, suitable from birth to 12 months.

How To Use
1. Lay the Cocoon on a flat, low surface with the zip open and arm studs closed.
2. Lay the baby on top of the Cocoon. Tuck legs into the swaddle and zip up with the baby's hands in the desired position (by sides or across chest).
3. To change a nappy or cool down the baby, zip open from the bottom of the swaddle to release legs and lower torso. Zip closed again when finished.
4. Layer underneath for warmth as needed.
5. To transition to arms-out sleeping once showing signs of rolling, release arms by opening the studs on the shoulders. Transition one arm at a time over several days for a smoother adjustment.

Care
- Gentle cold machine wash in mild detergent. Do not soak or bleach. Tumble dry low. Moderately hot iron. Dry-cleanable (P).
